After landing in Colombo, continue to Negombo for two nights at a wide, golden beach. In the morning, visit the busy fish market, the Negombo Lagoon, and the cities of Negombo and Colombo. Then head to Kandy with a stop at the Elephant Orphanage and an optional elephant ride. Visit a tea plantation, the Temple of the Tooth, and the Botanical Garden. Discover a traditional village by tuk-tuk, boat, and ox cart. Climb the Lion Rock. Explore Polonnaruwa, one of the ancient cities forming Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. The Minneriya National Park features forests, grasslands, and wetlands. It’s home to 160 bird species, crocodiles, macaques, sloth bears, and large herds of elephants. Trincomalee is known for its bright beaches like Uppuveli and Nilaveli, and Pigeon Island – a snorkeling and diving paradise. Book a whale watching tour or relax by the sea. Anuradhapura, once the capital of ancient Ceylon, is now full of historical ruins. Jeep safari in Wilpattu National Park.
